Or so it seems
In a quagmire
Of confusion,
Since partition,
Even after the British,
We thrive on division.
Look around,
What do we see?
Do we see Democracy?
Or total Anarchy?
Communal disharmony
Or vested political hegemony?
Look around
What do we see?
Multi societies
Seeking objectivity
Or common objectives
Reeking duality!
Look around
What do we see?
Scientific temperament
Towards nth-century,
Superstitious impediment :
Treading back- regularly?
Education or literacy
Or simple dogmatic idiocy,
Encouraging the girl child
Or simply burning the bride?
Multi religious happy lots?
Sometimes even despots!
All so confusing,
Yet, all abiding?.
Choosing to ignore
Though quite sore,
Whatever we may say,
Our country, our very own.

these lines from a song express the feelings of every Indian in these times .We didn't start the fire It was always burning Since the world's been turning We didn't start the fire No we didn't light it But we tried to fight it
